Canada is facing significant instability due to the ongoing threat of tariffs, rising inflation and the potential for job losses. These challenges are reflected in communities across Perth-Huron. To help, United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) is working with social service and economic development partners on a strategy to address food insecurity, mental health and well-being and support for workers through the organization’s Urgent Needs Fund.
“Our community is facing the potential of very tough times ahead,” said United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director Ryan Erb. “We want local companies to know that, just as they have been there supporting United Way over many years, we’ll be there for them.”
Living Wage Week in Ontario runs November 18 to 22 and United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) is announcing the new living wage of $23.05 an hour, up slightly from $22.75 last year.
United Way Perth-Huron’s Social Research & Planning Council is partnering with the University of Guelph on a study focused on local 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals’ experiences with discrimination and exclusion, priorities important to the community and the availability, or lack, of services across Perth-Huron.
United Way Perth-Huron is looking to add members to its Community Impact and Allocations Committee. The committee reviews and evaluates funding applications, chooses investments ensuring funding supports the community, engages with the community to set local priorities and acts as a liaison when needed.
Volunteer Week is April 14 to 20, and United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) is celebrating the passion and commitment of the volunteers who bring so much to the organization.
