Press release March 1

Listowel, ON — United Way Perth-Huron and their North Perth Community Committee are proud to announce results from the Coldest Night of the Year event in Listowel.

“We’re excited to share that we’ve raised $54,194 so far in support of local people experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness,” said Lee Anne Andriessen, Chair of United Way’s North Perth Community Committee. “Donations are accepted until March 31 at cnoy.org, so if you want to give to this worthwhile cause, there’s still time. We’d also like to thank all our North Perth volunteers, walkers and donors for making the event such a success.”

132 walkers took part in this year’s North Perth walk. The top five fundraising teams were Ward & Uptigrove, The Cox Family & Friends, Journey, United North Perth and Jubilation Station. The top five individual fundraisers were Tom Soltys, Stacey Romat, Jakob Greydanus, Liam Greydanus and Melanie Koch Nichol. For updates, pictures, and video, join the North Perth Coldest Night of the Year Facebook group.

Funds raised help support United Way’s work on housing and homelessness in North Perth, including the Urgent Needs Fund, which provides financial support for local people when needed. Funds also support mental health counselling for families and individuals, early intervention counselling for youth, counselling for children who have witnessed domestic violence and the long-term goal of more housing in North Perth through the United Housing initiative.

United Way helps in the community you care about, tackling #UNIGNORABLE issues, including homelessness, mental health and access to services. Thanks to United Way, its partners, and donors, vulnerable people across Perth-Huron can have a brighter future.
