Danbert reached the height of his fame as a member of Chumbawamba, but he continues to create high-quality thought-provoking protest music with the Axis of Dissent, and during this chat he delves into the ideas that provoked him to write some of his post-Chumbawamba songs, such his time spent studying children’s play in college inspiring “Crazy Demons Play” or his interest in the social evolution of humans inspiring “Bringing Up B.B.B.B.E.” Although the conversation touches on some dark topics, Danbert maintains an optimistic outlook believing that the positive spirit of community can overcome the fascist elements that are currently vying for control of our lives.
